But could we get faction guns buffed so that they're worth buying and using compared to T2 versions? Right now T2 guns totally outclass their faction versions, even with the availability of faction ammo. Prior to faction ammo, Faction guns were even more outclassed due to the ability for T2 guns to use high damage short ranged T2 ammo.
The fitting and cap use advantages of T1 Faction guns isn't enough to justify their use over T2. If the fitting advantages were enough so that I could replace 8x T2 Ions (as an example) with 8x Gallente Navy Neutrons with Advanced Weapon Upgrades V, then sure, it might be worth it.
But as it sits now, it's not. I think it would be really cool to actaully have a *reason* to fit some big, bad, ultra expensive faction guns on my battleship or cruiser. Even small faction guns on an AF or Inty would be pretty sweet.
Anyway, right now faction guns are simply useless. No one uses them, no one buys them. They're not competitive with T2, and until they are at least the same, if not better, then there is no reason to fit them. Come on CCP, I want to be able to fit my Navy Mega with Navy Neutrons and smash the crap outta stuff. I'm sure that the Amarr guys would love to fit a giant rack of Amarr Navy Tachs on their Abaddons and rip ships apart.
I think that if Faction guns offered 5% more damage mod than a T2 gun did with maxed skills (spec at 5), that would be a great change for the game.
All races would benefit from this change. Who's with me?
You again? No to your idea... the only reason to tolerate the excessive time needed to train for t2 hybrids (in ex), is because they are kick-ass. The only reason to tolerate their horrid fitting requirements is because they kick ass.
Feel free to pimp your ride, just don't whine when someone in a vanilla t2 setup kicks your ass. T2 is there for a reason. Use it or lose it.
taking the time to train t2 is compensated by their cheap cost. make sense?
